Interested in having a ‘workaway’ from home? While some of us enjoy the perks of working from home due to present circumstances, it can be pretty daunting over time to have both our place of work and our place of comfort, home, being one of the same. Being cooped up and isolated at home may evoke unfavourable emotions. If you’re interested in stretching your legs and having a change of scenery while still being productive, we have a few categories of places with top listed recommendations in Hanoi for you. If you do decide to visit these places, please do remember to follow the current Covid-19 guidelines, wear a mask, social distance and most importantly, stay safe.
1. Hotel Lounge or Restaurant – Le Club Bar
While almost every popular remote work-away spaces for ‘the new normal hybrid way of work’ still suffer from lockdown in Vietnam with a very strict takeaway-only policy, 5-star hotel lounges and restaurant offer some of the ‘secret corners’ to catch up on your next business meeting and even working from your laptop for a short escape from the dull environment at home. If you are up for a fancy work-away from the chaos of Hanoi, have Metropole’s Le Club Bar on your bucket list. Working from a hotel lounge provides a refreshing change of scenery with wonderful background music, not to mention a wide range of facilities and free Wi-fi. However, power outlets may be harder to find, and finding a seat may prove a challenge on busier days.
Le Club is located in Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. Once you enter, the iconic cocktail bar will transport you back to the 1920s, providing an elegant and luxurious ambiance for you to enjoy while working. Indulge in their wide array of authentic European dishes and drinks with calming jazz music in the background. Try out their afternoon tea set for something to munch on while you’re typing away.
This classy, yet cozy cocktail bar in Hanoi is the perfect place to catch up with a colleague for a business meeting or work on your own with a fresh garden view. Make sure to stick around till after 8 pm from Friday to Sunday as live music will be available for you to listen and unwind after a productive day’s work, or enjoy a refreshing drink after work with a pool view at Bamboo Bar.
2. Eatery – Bee’Zness
Another 1920s-themed cocktail bar, Bee’Znees is not only an eatery but it offers the special experience of discovering a secret hidden speakeasy. At first glance, you may think you’ve stepped foot into an ordinary, unsuspecting bookstore, that is until you are ushered to one of the bookshelves. Pull the correct book out and ta-da, just like magic, a hidden door opens. As you go up the steps, you’ll find yourself in a stylish and sophisticated bar! Best known for their classic drinks, great music, and excellent service, this is a great location to disappear from the outside world and focus on work.
Work-friendly eateries, like Bee’Zness, are a great option if you’re looking for a good bite and drinks while working! Indulge in the alluring ambiance as you work on your tasks. Be wary of the limited seats, however.
3. Coffee shops – All Day Coffee
If bars and cocktails are not for you don’t worry, coffee shops are definitely still in popular demand for gen Z and freelancers seeing creativity and inspiration outside 4 walls at home. For our next recommendation, we love All Day Coffee. As the name may suggest, All Day Coffee is a coffee shop that has a rustic, European feel. If you’re looking for a chill and casual day away from home, this is the place for you. This hipster vibes cafe serves coffee and has a wide range of desserts and breakfast foods. Be sure to try their well-known “Egg Coffee”. All Day Coffee also has outdoor seating if you’re looking to get a breath of fresh air. The owner of All Day Coffee also developed Xofa, a popular work-friendly cafe located in the Old Quarter area.
The casual and calm atmosphere of coffee shops provides a carefree environment for you to do your work without feeling rushed or stressed. The easily available caffeinated drinks are sure to be a plus point for most who needs that extra energy boost throughout the day!
